Top 7 Family Favorite Fall/Halloween Movies

I can’t believe October will be here next week! Fall has come in full force here in New England, and it’s gorgeous! The leaves are changing colors and falling, the temperatures are fabulous, and we are fortunate to have a farm 1 mile away where we can pick apples, pumpkins, and other assorted fruits and veggies as they come in season! I also love to decorate the house for the fall, and in October, break out some favorite Halloween Movies. Here are the Top 7 Fall/Halloween movies that our family loves, what are some of your favorites?
It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown: I have LOVED this since I was a child, and it just thrills me to see my own kids enjoy it as much as I do!
Spookly the Square Pumpkin: This is such a cute story. I think it was released when my kids were very little, and they fell in love with it. One of the reviews says it’s kind of like Rudolph, but for Halloween, and I’d have to agree. It has a sweet story about helping kids to accept differences of others, which has meant a lot to our family.
Spooky Buddies: This is another favorite of the kids. They adore dog related movies, so the entire “Buddies” Series is a hit around here. They “want” a big dog like the ones in these movies, but Aaron is still frightened by large dogs, so that’s not in our immediate future. For now, they’ll have to settle for watching movies about larger dogs!

Garfield’s Halloween Adventure: Who Doesn’t love Garfield?! Especially the older, animated cartoons. I could only find the newer, edited version online to link, which comes as part of a holiday combo pack, it isn’t the full version shown on TV, but it’s still great to have on hand for times when you need a Garfield fix :) I think Garfield was the first comic strip I ever read in the newspaper (as a child), I’ve just always enjoyed this cartoon.
The Dog Who Saved Halloween: You might be noticing the dog themed movies about now :) My kids howl with laughter at this movie, so it had to be included. Obviously they enjoy dog movies, but they also really like mysteries, so this is a perfect mix for them. This is one they like to watch year round.

Scared Shrekless: We own all movies Shrek related. Shrek and Donkey are funny and enjoyable, no matter the occasion or storyline, so it was a natural fit to purchase this DVD. When we bought ours, it was in a combo pack, exactly like the one featured below, and came with the Monsters Vs Aliens movie – which as you can see, is another favorite.

Monsters vs Aliens: Mutants From Outer Space: Do girls love monsters and aliens as much as boys do? Since I only have boys, I have nothing to compare it to. I don’t recall liking them, but these boys sure do! Anything space related (along with dogs, dinosaurs, and superheroes) are on the must have wish list of my three kids.
